Hotel PMS (Property Management System)
Software that runs daily hotel operations: reservations, check-in/out, rooms, billing, and reports.
Channel Manager
Software that keeps your room availability and rates in sync across Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, and your own website.
Hotel Booking Engine
The checkout on your own website that turns lookers into commission-free reservations.
ADR (Average Daily Rate)
Total room revenue divided by rooms sold. What the average sold room earned.
RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room)
Room revenue divided by ALL rooms (sold or not). The single best performance number.
Hotel Occupancy Rate
Rooms sold divided by rooms available, as a percentage.
OTA (Online Travel Agency)
Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb: marketplaces that sell your rooms for 15–25% commission.
Hotel Folio (Guest Bill)
The running bill for a stay: room + restaurant + bar + extras, settled at checkout.
Hotel POS (Point of Sale)
The till for hotel outlets — restaurant, bar, shop — with charges that can post to room folios.
QR Code Ordering (Hotels & Restaurants)
Guests scan a table or room code, browse the menu, and order — billed to their tab or folio.
Hotel No-Show
A guest who never arrives and never cancels — the room stays empty and usually unpaid.
Hotel Overbooking
Selling more rooms than exist — deliberate (to cover no-shows) or accidental (sync failure).
FIFO Inventory (First In, First Out)
Sell oldest stock first; cost each sale at the batch it actually came from.
Direct Booking (Hotels)
A reservation made on your own website, phone, or walk-in — with zero OTA commission.
Room Housekeeping Status
Clean / Dirty / Inspected / Out of order — the live state that decides if a room can be sold.
